Plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey visits Cortland, Illinois to learn how corn is harvested and stored in a grain elevator. He then helps a nearby homeowner seal and insulate his ductwork. Then, landscape contractor Roger Cook shares advice on proper pruning. Afterward, Richard, Roger, host Kevin O'Connor, and general contractor Tom Silva ask "What Is It?" And, Kevin shows how to maintain clothes washers & dryers. Sealing and Insulating Ductwork
Richard helps a homeowner insulate his ductwork.

Expert assistance with this project was provided by . Additional advice was provided by Air Purchases, Inc. Richard used mastic paste to seal the joints between ducts, in this case Hard Cast Duct Seal 321 by Carlisle HVAC.

He also used Nashua foil tape designed for sealing ducts, manufactured by Berry Plastics Corporation

Finally, Richard installed Owens Corning 1.5 inch thick fiberglass insulation around the ductwork. This insulation has an FSK foil-facing and provides an R-value of 4.2.

Roger demonstrated an 18V cordless hedge trimmer manufactured by Black and Decker, but showed his preferred way to prune is with a pair of bypass hand pruners, which are available at home centers and garden centers.

Kevin and an appliance repairman discuss how to maintain clothes washers & dryers.
